I have to admit that I have driven around the San Antonio Public Library for years, trying to figure out a good way to photograph it. The building is crammed in next to other competing architecture and even with wide angle lenses, for some reason I just didn’t get the context of the big shapes that could work together. This weekend I needed to do some testing of my camera equipment and the Library came back to my mind. What if I did a 180 degree panorama? Well, my equipment fought me and the clouds fought me over the weekend and I went back this morning to finish the job I started. Here is the big GigaPan of the 200 by 140 inch image.

The Alameda Theater has a fantastic facade. It is undergoing a restoration and while I photographed it last year, here is the big GigaPan of today’s shot.

I took this shot of downtown San Antonio today, so you could see the Joske’s building that all the hubbub is about regarding the planned modern hotel tower. It says Rivercenter and is to the left and behind the Torch of Friendship. Here is the big Gigapan, which is 139 x 72 inches.

This image is not so much about the Texas Theater Facade, but how to create a massive clash by saving the facade and putting the building behind it that you see here. There is a big controversy over a modern tower hotel over the old Joske’s building with its art deco facade, so you can see here exactly how two radically different styles either love or hate each other. This hangar is on the site of the former Kelly Air Force Base, now Port San Antonio. It is occupied by a single trash can.

Since the Joske’s building has been in the news as the owners proposed a hideous highrise hotel above it that would leave the Alamo in shadows during the winter months, I thought it would be nice to share a little detail from the building.
Here is a shot of the Paul Elizondo Tower. It is an 11-story, 232,000 square foot office addition to the Bexar County Cadena Reeves Justice Center.
